REVIEW
Billed as a sequel to the director’s previous George Eastman gore-fest Anthropophagous The Beast, this portrays no resemblance to Anthro, apart from the fact that both films share the same director and star Eastman as the lead nutter. Besides, the monster in Anthro is called Klaus and Eastman’s madman in Absurd is called Nicos.
The film starts with an action-packed sequence involving Eastman being pursued through the woods by a priest (for reasons we find out later). In an attempt to outrun the man-in-black, he climbs over a big fence, but is pulled down on top of the spikes and he stumbles to the nearest house, guts spilling out of his stomach, and collapses on the floor. At the hospital, the doctors try to revive him, thinking he is dead, and to their amazement, he totally recovers and goes on a bloody rampage as an unstoppable madman.
Later on, we find out that the priest has subjected Nicos to some kind of scientific experiment, where he has become an invincible nutcase intent on killing anyone who gets in his way. We see countless examples of these, such as a drill through the head of a hospital nurse, a fat, baldy man getting his shiny bonce run through a sawmill, and a skinny youth gets thrown from his moped across a country road. The madman eventually makes it back to the house with the iron railings, which contains a variety of potential victims, including Annie Belle, of House on the Edge of the Park fame, who plays the part of the babysitter, who gets her head stuffed into an oven by Nicos.
As the film draws to an end, Eastman’s madman gets stabbed in both eyes and wanders round the house arms-outstretched like a zombie, trying to kill a young girl. The priest comes in and gets throttled, while the young girl chops Nicos’ head off and holds it aloft.
