REVIEW

Notorious urban cannibal nasty starring our old mate John Morghen (Giovanni Lombardo Radice) and John Saxon. Released back in 1980 on the Replay label.

The film kicks off with some action in the Vietnamese jungle, where Hopper (John Saxon) finds 2 of his comrades, Bukowski and Thompson (Morghen and another guy) in a big hole in the ground. He reaches out to help them, and Thompson takes a big bite out of his arm. This is actually a flashback, as Hopper wakes up in his bed shortly afterwards. We are given hints that his flashback is true, as his wife ponders over his mental state.

Meanwhile, Bukowski has been released from jail, and is phoning Hopper to catch up. Hopper doesn`t want to know. Bukowski goes on a bit of a spree, taking a bite of flesh from a woman, hiding in a shopping centre and killing a guy on a motorbike and a security guard. As the cops close in, Hopper comes to his aid and persuades him to give himself up. Bukowski gets sent to hospital, where he meets up with Thompson, who is tied to a bed like a caged animal. It turns out that they contracted a strange cannibal disease in the jungle.

Bukowski and Thompson attack a nurse, she turns cannibal, and helps them escape. Hopper joins in the killing at this point, and together the four of them nick an ambulance. After killing a few more people, they escape into the sewers, where the nurse, Helen is shot and a bit later, Bukowski is also shot and we get a great shot of him with a gaping hole in his stomach, where you can see daylight through! Thompson meets a grisly end with a flame-thrower, and Hopper escapes.

The film draws to a close as Hopper sees his wife bitten, and killed, by an infected doctor and then he is killed himself. At the end of the film, in a moment which suggests a sequel, the girl next door, Mary, has been infected with the disease too, but no-one knows.
