REVIEW

Low-budget American slasher-in-the-woods flick, released on the VRO label back in 1980.

The “story” surrounds four young campers, Craig, Peter, Ingrid and Joanie, who go for a relaxing back-packing adventure out in the sticks. They are out camping, in broad-daylight, whilst a mad-man is going around killing tourists. An early indication of this is when an ornithologist has his arm hacked off, and is then killed, and a couple who decide to have a quick fumble in a camper van get their gory come-uppance.

More strange things keep happening when the local rozzers come to find the missing ornithologist. We see the growling mad-man, dressed in furs a bit like Night of The Demon, nick off with a young woman’s child after he has butchered her, a guy gets murdered with a bear trap, a guy in a wheelchair gets decapitated, and several young back-packers get butchered one-way-or-another before Peter and Ingrid stumble across the wild-man’s hideout in the woods.

Here, we see the nutcase get a taste of his own medicine as he is butchered in a knife-frenzy, before a strange ending similar to Blood Bath, where the child who was taken earlier is seen all alone in the woods, playing with an axe. Lovely.
