REVIEW
Quite an enjoyable revenge romp with some good special effects. Originally released on the Videospace label way back in 1981, this was re-released a few years ago minus a good few seconds of trims.
At a Military Academy School, bumbling misfit Stanley Coopersmith (Clint Howard) is constantly bullied and tormented by his peers, whom he despises with venomous hatred. It turns out that his school is built upon the site of an ancient devil-worshipping chapel, and one day, Coopersmith discovers an entrance to the underground chapel. Whilst fumbling around in the dark, he comes across the devil-worshipper’s old spell book.
Using a computer, the nerd discovers that he needs two ingredients in order to perform the resurrection trial – human blood and a consecrated host. In the meantime, Coopersmith is tormented further by his classmates, until some supernatural forces kill the boozy caretaker, and in quite a gory scene, some boars rip the school secretary to pieces in a bathtub. After Coopersmith finds that someone has butchered his dog, he kills a member of staff, before pouring the blood into his computer in the chapel, and summoning Esteban the demon.
Some great special-effects follow, as Coopersmith rises into the air, armed with sword, flying around chopping his classmates’ heads off and pulling the heart out of the lead bully.
