REVIEW

If you look at the list of 39 banned films, this title springs out as it doesn’t appear to be a horror film (which it isn’t). Released on the Vision On label way back in 1977, this film was banned due to a mixture of extreme racism, rape and a very nasty child killing.

The story involves three hoodlums called Kane, Chow and Chino, who escape from prison and hold a middle-class black family hostage in their own home. We kick off the film, as the three nutcases shoot a rozzer and nick off in a Mercedes. They call in at a liquor store, where they shoot a cashier and take a young black girl hostage. They speed off to a nearby house, where they intend to switch cars.

The house in question is owned by the Turner family, of whom the father, Ted, is out at Church. The gang take the whole family hostage and wait for him to come back. When he returns, Kane gives him loads of racial abuse and makes the family cook them all dinner. A young girl calls at the house, and Chow chases her through the woods before stripping, raping, and killing her. Also, whilst in the woods, in a particularly nasty scene, he murders a young boy by bashing him over the head with a large rock.

When Chow returns to the house, the three thugs knock Ted unconscious and rape his daughter. As the rozzers close in on the house, the power struggle moves onto the hostages’ side, as Ted wins possession of the gun. Chow and Chino are killed as they try to escape, and Ted shoots Kane.
