The best film in the banned set – well in my opinion anyway. One of the films, along with Driller Killer, that started the video nasties phenomenon, and resulted in mass shelving of the vids. Released in 1978 by Mier Zarchi, whose script was actually based on an actual event, when he was out jogging in a New York park, and he came across a young girl who had been raped.

We follow the story of Jennifer Hills (Camille Keaton), a very sexy New York writer, who decides to head for a summer house in the sticks in order to get some piece and quiet, so she can get on with her writing. Upon arrival, she stops for some petrol at a small garage, and is leered at by Johnny the pump attendant, and his mates Stanley and Andy. When she gets to the house, it isn’t long before she gets her kit off for a swim in the lake. A little later, she meets Matthew, the local retard, who takes a fancy to her, and goes to tell his mates that there is a nice looking girl in the summer house.

Later, Jennifer is out in a boat on the lake, and she is hijacked by the 4 local thugs and pulled back onto the land. She is chased, pinned down, stripped and offered on a plate to Matthew the retard, so he can lose his cherry. He refuses, so Johnny rapes her as the others pin her down. She gets up, stumbles naked through the forest, and is pushed over a rock and shagged from behind by a different youth. After making it back to the summer house, where she is raped again – this time by Matthew, she is left for dead as Matthew fails to kill her.

Later, after Jennifer recovers, the film hots up as she exacts revenge on each of the 4 thugs. First, she lures Matthew into the woods wearing a slinky white dress, tempts him with sex and hangs him from a tree over the lake. Later, she threatens to shoot Johnny and they go back to the house. Here, whilst Johnny is in the bath, we are treated to some really nice shots of Jennifer’s fit naked body in close up, before she gets in the bath, and chops Johnny’s knob off with a bread knife. The effects are great here, and no man watching this would be able to watch it without flinching, as she locks the door and goes downstairs, as Johnny stumbles round the bathroom screaming, before eventually dying from extreme blood loss.

Stanley and Andy also get some pretty nasty treatment from Jennifer in the lake at the end, as one gets axed and another gets a boat-propeller through the head. Overall, excellent stuff. Very violent and graphic in places and some very nasty rape scenes, but you will be pushed to find a better revenge flick.
