REVIEW
The least rare of the 39 banned nasties, and as a result, very easy to get hold of. From director Dario Argento, this is actually not a bad thriller.
The story follows a writer, Peter Neal, who travels to Rome to promote his latest novel. Here, he finds that someone is committing murders, apparently using his novel as the inspiration for the killings. As the number of deaths escalate, the rozzers start to turn the finger of suspicion to the writer.
The film contains plenty of gore, as the crazed killer
goes around butchering folk, armed with axes, razors and the like, as the
camera sequences work quite nicely. The murder-mystery type tale finally ends
in a bloody climax, where we get to see the infamous scene involving the blood
spurting stump!
