REVIEW
The most infamous, and probably sickest, of all of the video nasties. Luigi Batzella’s charming Italian SS shocker is never likely to see light-of-day again.
The opening sequence sets the tone for most of the film. The very sexy Dr Ellen Kratsch (Macha Magall) a sadistic biologist, has formed a torture chamber in order to dish out lots of nasty, inhumane treatment to captured partisans. She has created a sex-crazed midget - half-man, half-beast - by a series of experimental injections, who she keeps in a steel cage. We see a young blonde female prisoner thrown into the Beast’s cage and she is ravaged, raped and thrown around like a rag doll until she dies at the hands of the snarling Beast. The evil doctor delights in the spectacle, and in a similar approach to The Gestapo’s Last Orgy, believes that the soldiers should get excited and “turned-on” at the sight of such a depraved activity.
The film jumps between war sequences one minute, and torture sequences the next minute, which leaves you wondering if you are watching a war epic, or some kind of sadistic SS film. It is of course, the latter! There are numerous scenes of bad taste in here, such as one where the soldiers raid the partisan village, grab a baby out of its mother’s arms, throw it in the air and machine gun it to ribbons. Once they have done this, they invade a house, strip a women, rape her, then put the gun to her nether regions.
Most of the nasty scenes take place in Dr Kratsch’s torture chamber. Examples of these charming activities include, a woman who gets her finger nails pulled out by pliers, a woman with her legs spread-eagled with mouse traps on her genitalia, and a very unfortunate victim of the Beast, who gets her clitoris bitten off in close-up, then has to watch as he jumps around with a mix of blood and female genitalia splattered across his face. I suppose there are moments of political-correctness, as it isn’t just women who are subjected to cruel humiliation and inhumane treatment. At one point, the evil doctor strips in front of a trio of male prisoners. Furious that she cannot sexually excite one particular partisan, she takes a swipe at the poor guy next to him, and chops his erect manhood off.
The film draws to a close as
the advancing allied forces are approaching the SS camp, and Dr Kratsch ends
up in the cage with the Beast.
