Too terrifying to be shown in cinema's !
Personally I hate remakes but in this instance I really
enjoyed it. Not totally different from the original movie but with some
different plot lines the Dawn of the Dead remake is great from start to
finish. Well directed and an all star cast, the movie kicks in straight
with the action on a big level.
A woman wakes to find her daughter in the
shadow of the bedroom door. When she reveals her face it is totally disfigured.
The father leaps from the bed to the aid of his mutilated daughter and she
takes a whopping bite out of his throat. Blood generously shoots all over
the place and he collapses on the bed. The woman manages to trap her demented
daughter in the hall and tries to save her husband, who passes away. Her husband
comes back to life and looks at her as if to say LUNCH TIME and lunges at
her. What follows is a scuffle but she manages to escape the house and flees
in her car. Terror and disaster surrounds her as she drives away aimlessly.
She ends up in a car crash and is knocked
out cold. She comes around to a cop holding a shotgun to her head. They decide
to stick together and meet up with another group who are going to seek refuge
in the mall. What follows is a gore busting movie with a great set of characters
and the most amount of zombies I have ever seen.
It was good to see some of the old latex
style special effects in this movie as I think they look better than computer
generated gore. On the DVD there is an interesting feature about head explosions
and how they are done. Also there is a token spot in the movie in which special
effects guru Tom Savini, who made all the special effects for the original
film, is shown on the news (quite funny!). Good to see your still at it Tom!
Whether you are a horror fan or just like
good movies you must have this DVD in your collection. Check out the directors
cut as it is the UNCUT version.
