On October 2, 1971, In the town of Westport,
Connecticut, a small film crew led by writer/director Wes Craven and producer
Sean Cunningham began shooting a low-budget exploitation movie called Night
of Vengence. No one could of guessed that the two struggling, inexperienced
film makers were on the verge of a defining moment in there careers, or that
Night of Vengence would become the controversial horror classic LAST HOUSE
ON THE LEFT.
Last House On The Left was released in 1972 and marked Wes Craven`s directorial
debut. The film tells the sorded tale of two hippy girls who go out to a concert
and whilst trying to score some grass they run into some trouble. They get
abducted, raped and butchered by a fugitive "family" of for degenerates
led by a psychopath named Krug. After the massacre the fugitives unwittingly
seek refuge at the home of one of there victims, the killers meet with the
bizarre, gruesome revenge of the murdered girl`s parents.
Some of the footage in this film is quite intense as the girls go through
an extremely tormenting time. There is one part in the film when one of the
girls escapes the clutches of the group and a wild chase through the woods
ensues. Eventually she is trapped by the gang and stabed various times. She
is left for dead but then the gang decide to finish her off by pulling her
guts out. Most versions of this film have this part cut out and it was one
of the reasons it got banned in the U.K. however you can get the uncut version
